Mclardy Constructions were contracted by us to construct a dwelling on our property at 16 Ngungun Street, Dicky Beach Qld in 2007 and construction was completed in 2008.
The house was designed by Core Architecture, a 2 storey structure with 2 bedrooms, lounge, dining, kitchen, laundry, storage, bathroom and toilet on the lower storey and 1 bedroom, ensuite and living area on the upper story. There are covered decks at both levels.
The construction period was to be 6 months, but heavy rains affected the completion date by a few weeks. As the delay was considered to be beyond the control of the builder, liquidated damages were not sought.
The building was supervised by Core Architecture. It was noticeable that anything brought to the builder’s attention during the construction period was amicable and competently resolved.
After the date of practical completion, any issues that became evident to us that required rectification were immediately attended to by McLardy Constructions. This cooperation continued well after the 12 months maintenance period. The schedule rates were clearly outlined in the costs of the project and were so thoroughly prepared that there were minimum variations to the contract cost.
The construction was carried out in a thoroughly professional manner to our complete satisfaction. We now have a beautifully crafted home which is a joy to live in and we thank the builders for the high quality of their workmanship and attention to detail.
